Uphill of Margi

Updated: Feb 9

Uphill of Margi, tells us about the Peloritani mountains, that part of Sicily that is so close, yet so far from the sea. We are only a few kilometres from Taormina, but here you can still breathe a little authenticity.

This route begins in the charming village of Gallodoro. After leaving the asphalt road, we enter the countryside along a dirt track that will take us immediately to the Margi plateau, in a panoramic position with a view of Monte Scuderi, the Agrò torrent and Monte Kalfa.

Continuing on, we can see the remains of an ancient Roman settlement. Next, we find ourselves near an ancient sacred area, as we can see the remains of a probable altar carved into the rock.

On the way back, the Peloritani landscape will give us unforgettable views of the Ionian coast and Mount Etna. All that remains is to try this itinerary in the company of your trusted guide.

"At the end of a day spent in nature we will definitely be better off".
